Critical Thinking Piece:

Are established traditions guiding influences or are they limiting? Wow, what a question. For my critical thinking piece, I took this question apart and looked at it from every conceivable angle. My answer to this question is that they are both, but for very good reasons. In a society that glorifies, “if it feels good do it,” perhaps having some limitations is an asset. America was founded as a Christian nation. In his famous "Gettysburg Address", Lincoln stated, “That all men are created equal.” And, our own pledge of allegiance clearly states, “Under God.” With these great words as an establishment of what it means to have a tradition of equality and morality, why then are our traditions questioned by so many. The answer, for me at least, is our traditions have shifted away to multiculturalism at any cost, rather than focusing on the benefits of being a member of this one nation.
